Standing in Global Solidarity: My Message for the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers

I am proud to share that my voice has been featured alongside fellow activists from across the Asia Pacific in a powerful new campaign by the Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers (APNSW).

To mark the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, we have come together to send a unified message to the world: Decriminalize Sex Work Now.

Why I Spoke Out

In Pakistan, our reality is shaped by a deeply patriarchal system. This means that male sex workers (MSWs) and men who have sex with men (MSM) are often hyper-visible to the state but invisible to protection. Instead of receiving support, many in my community face systemic violence, humiliation, and the constant threat of arrest.

As a gay sex worker and activist, I know that this violence—whether it comes from the police, healthcare providers, or the state—is not accidental. It is the direct result of punitive laws that treat human beings as criminals.

Our Message to the Region

In the video released by APNSW, I highlighted the urgent need for a shift from criminalization to dignity. We don’t just ask for safety; we demand it as a fundamental human right.

I am honored to represent Pride Pakistan in this regional video chain, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with incredible organizations like Subrang Society, Scarlet Alliance, Empower Foundation, and many others. It is a reminder that while our local contexts may differ, our struggle for justice is one and the same.

What Comes Next?

Sharing our stories is a form of resistance. By showing my face and speaking my truth, I hope to encourage others in my community to realize that we deserve to work without fear.

We will continue to advocate until sex work is decriminalized, our rights are protected, and the violence finally stops.
